CICIL is a women owned and operated business, committed to making natural, clean, and healthy rugs and textiles for your home and for the environment. When we founded CICIL, we set out to explore the textile heritage in our own back yards and to divest from carbon-intensive and sprawling global textile supply chains. Rugs and textiles are often made using toxic forever chemicals disguised as 'easy care finishes' and plastic fibers that will never degrade. These textiles surround us every day as we play with our kids (two and four legged!), entertain our friends, rest with a good book, and simply live in our homes. As women, mothers, and textile industry veterans, it is our mission to clean up the textiles in our lived spaces. We use premium wool fiber sourced directly from small family farms on the East Coast, US alongside upcycled natural fibers like Jute - no synthetic fibers, ever. Our shearer inspects the farms for animal welfare and land management, while shearing and collecting some of the most beautiful, durable, long staple wool grown in the US. From farm to floor, our rugs travel less than a thousand miles and are made by hand in North Carolina and Georgia. We create heirloom textiles with soul to spark inspiration and self-expression and foster a deeper connection to people and our environment.
